I still remember watching Bethesda’s E3 presentation last year, all excited for Fallout 4 news, until suddenly a certain mobile game dropped … for free … minutes later! The hype surrounding Fallout Shelter and the days that followed were a mixture of pure enjoyment and a little frustration, but there’s no doubt the decision to create a free to play shelter building game was a smart one. Good times, Bethesda, good times.
The good news is, whilst the mobile edition continues to receive regular updates, those who have been waiting for the PC edition won’t have to wait much longer to discover the wonder that is Fallout Shelter. This friday, to be precise. With the promise of providing the same experience but with a keyboard and mouse, at least you won’t have to worry about using all your battery life (between this and Pokemon Go, you can only imagine how many portable batteries have been sold of late.)
Update 1.6 also drops this week, providing new locations, characters and a new quest system that has you controlling dwellers and patrolling the wasteland. Personally I’m excited to get back into the game having since switched from Apple to Android (long story). But do I go back to mobile, or go the PC edition?
What do you guys think? Will you be downloading Fallout Shelter for PC or will you stick with the mobile original? Let us know in the comments below. In the meantime, keep an eye on Bethesda.net where the game will be available as a free download starting July 15th.
