Building your own spaceship is one thing, but having to let it go, build another and go destroy the thing you created is another. That’s the concept behind Defect: Spaceship Destruction Kit which is set leave early access on Steam later this month.
It’s a pretty cool concept. Essentially you build you own ship before your crew defects. You then have to build another, more powerful ship to try and take down your crew … before your new crew defects. It’s an endless cycle that has you trying to improve the formula whilst having in the back of your head ‘crap, they’re going to defect again, aren’t they?’. It’s inevitable that something bad is going to happen, but luckily there’s a considerable amount of customisation options.
Three Phase Interactive have been working on the game for almost three years, so it’s great to see the dream come to fruition after a long period of development. Defect has certainly evolved over its early access time too, though the plan involves plenty of new content moving forward after the full launch.
You can still purchase Defect as part of its early access edition on Steam now before it goes full on July 28th.
