Described as the “lovechild of Syndicate and GTA 1”, Tokyo 42 is an isometric shooter set in an ultra-colourful futuristic version of Tokyo. You play as an assassin who’s working towards uncovering a dark conspiracy that will affect every single citizen. Throughout the game, the player takes contracts and assassinates their targets, before escaping from the law. Completing contracts earns you cash to buy weapons and grants access to story missions. Gameplay features include bullet physics, controlling movement through the air, stealth and crowd simulation within an open-world environment. There are also several mentions of a cat.
Tokyo 42 will feature challenges and competitive multiplayer. The arena-based multiplayer mode is best described as a mix of Where’s Wally and Assassin’s Creed. Change your skin to blend in with the crowd, and then explode into view with a flurry of rocket attacks.
Tokyo 42 is developed by SMAC Games, a team of two brothers based in London. Random fact: 42 was chosen for the title because it’s the primary number in sci-fi, particularly a certain guide to the galaxy.
Tokyo 42 is still a long way away and won’t be released until early 2017. You can find out more on the official site right here.
