Indie developer Radishbox continues the trend of bizarre new wave sports games with their title Don’t Drop the Bass, which is about cooperating with friends to hit a bass with paddles keeping it in the air for as long as possible. It’s like hackysack but with a fish.
Play as bright anthropomorphic duck men with up to three friends fighting to keep the bass in the air until the timer reaches zero. Gameplay takes place across randomly chosen levels with increasing difficulty.
If you have a competitive nature, you can battle over the title of Bass Emperor in one of two versus modes. Roulette mode sees each player attempt to keep the bass in the air during their turn. Power-ups including growing giant helps to stop the other players. In Slap mode, whoever slaps the bass the most in a limited amount of time, wins. Items and power-ups are also used here.
Don’t Drop the Bass is currently on Early Access for the low price of $2.99. Radishbox has stated that they are working on Steam leaderboards, MAC support as well as adding polish and considering player feedback.
Radishbox is a small team of developers based in Queretaro, Mexico.
