Mutant Mudds has been doing the rounds on Nintendo consoles for a little while now to much acclaim, having released on both 3DS and WiiU, along with a few visits to PS3, PC and iOS among others. The newest addition to the platforming family, Mutant Mudds Super Challenge, is now all set to appear on three new systems this week, including the series’ official debut on PS4.
Super Challenge takes the existing 2D platformer and adds a host of new levels, challenges and boss fights across five themed worlds. If you’ve never played any of the games in the series, you play as the hero named ‘Max’ with a water cannon and jetpack as his only source of equipment, scaling different levels to beat various critters in the best time possible.
Each level scales in terms of its difficulty and design, whether it’s platforms in-between foreground and background layers of each field or jumping across dangerous chasms. There’s 40 levels available in total in this edition, which should provide a healthy competitive competition between yourself and other players to try and beat them in record time.
Mutant Mudds developers Renegade Kid have teamed up with new indie publishers Nighthawk Interactive to bring it across to Steam, PSVita and PS4 (with cross-buy support) this Tuesday, July 27. If you’re a beginner to the series but you have a 3DS handy, there’s a Mutant Mudds demo available on that system if you’re curious.
