We all know that in nature, some animals migrate to warmer or in some cases colder climates. Having said that, I don’t think many salmon compete in an endless runner to see who survives the longest … correct me if I’m wrong, of course.
The premise behind Super Salmon Migration follows this amusing concept, as you control your little salmon down the stream of hazardous obstacles. Survival is based upon avoiding the likes of bigger fish, hungry bears and other such salmon haters. Tied together with a hand drawn look, it’s a mobile game that follows the simple control standard you’ll find on Android and iOS with a touch of playful humour. It might look like a swim of leisure, but the further you go on the faster it gets, making dodging and jumping into the air all the more difficult.
The trailer below might give you a better idea, but it does beg the question; why make a game about salmon? Colton Onderwater, aka Bear-Tooth Studios (based out of my home town here in Perth) put it rather simply on twitter recently by saying “I spent the last year making a game about a fish wearing costumes cause I thought it would be charming and funny.” Not wrong there.
I don’t think you’ve lived until you play a game where a salmon wears a tailored suit and sells you an astronaut costume in return. Just saying. If, like me, you like a high score challenge, you can download Super Salmon Migration on iOS and Android.
