Not since the days of Zatoichi has there been a warrior who exemplifies strength, courage, and awe-inspiring brutality while possessing so few limbs.
Severed is a first person touchscreen action game developed by DrinkBox Studios, best known for their PlayStation hit Guacamelee. In Severed, you play as Sasha, a young one-armed girl wielding a living sword who journeys through a colourful, yet nightmarish world to rescue her family. The swipe-based controls will let you do battle with all sorts of disturbing creatures and solve puzzles and find secrets along the way. As you progress, RPG elements come into play and new abilities and upgrades are unlocked via a skill tree.
Severed originally launched earlier this year on PlayStation Vita (of which we briefly touched on), before making its way to iOS last week. Both Wii U and 3DS versions are also on the way. The iOS version includes cloud saves and game centre achievements and you’ll need a device running iOS 9 or later. We suggest an iPad, since the bigger the screen the better the viewing experience. It might also serve to be a little more accurate with your swipes.
Since its release, Severed has received mostly positive reviews, and we’ll have our own very soon. Severed is available now with a launch week discount available until August 4.
