During the short history of modern VR headsets, games have traditionally offered immersive first person experiences. I find Roller Girls From Beyond interesting because it offers a different kind of VR experience. In fact, it offers an old school side-scrolling Beat em up experience. Roller Girls From Beyond would look right at home in the PS2 era, except for the whole VR deal.
Punch, jump, kick, surf , ride and stomp your way to save the cows of Planet Bovina from Dr Creepy and his alien army. There are 4 playable characters: Ice, Ginger, Mint and Sugar. Each Roller Girl possesses unique abilities that target specific enemy’s weaknesses. Switch characters on the fly to target enemies and combine their powers for devastating attacks. Unfortunately, it’s single player only.
Roller Girls From Beyond looks like the perfect entry point to VR gaming and is the sort of title that may convince the older demographic to try it out. It’s available now for PC and is compatible with the HTC Vice and Oculus Rift
