Who doesn’t like huskies? (it’s a rhetorical question). Dog Sled Saga situates you at the rear of a pack of racing huskies where it’s your job to train, manage and race them across the frosty landscape.
As a rookie muster, you foster huskies as part of a dog sledding team whose skills grow if you treat them right. Week by week you get to know the dogs and their unique traits to carve a story through the vaguely named Mount St. Something region.
Dog Sled Saga is one part management sim one part racer. If you aim to reach the top of the dog sledding league you will need to budget monthly expenses, leverage fame to earn sponsorship deals, bring on employees for multitasking, hire and fire dogs based on traits and performance and of course, breed puppies! The racing portion features simple pick up and play gameplay. Avoid hazards on the track and manage the dog’s hunger by lobbing food out in front of them. The hungrier they are, the slower the dogs run.
The result is a solid role-playing game that’s available now for PC, Mac, Linux, iOS and Android. Dog Sled Saga is the first game developed by Dan FitzGerald and Lisa Bromiel. On the surface, the pixelated art gives the impression of a casual indie game although the narrative cues and management reveal a deep and engaging experience the more you play. Gamers tend to agree as Dog Sled Saga has received very positive reviews of Steam.
