Whether Half Life 3 will ever become a reality remains to be seen. What we do know is that there is an incredible community of fans inspired by Half Life’s legacy who are unwilling to let the name and the unfinished story fade into oblivion.
Half Life: A Place in the West is a new fan made digital comic series that has just hit Steam. It follows three characters that are each drawn to the American city of New Franklin. Once inside, they discover a powerful secret protected by deceptive temptations and a community on the brink of madness.
Half Life: A Place in the West draws on the rich mythology of the Half Life universe to tell a compelling original story with an all new cast of characters. There will be six issues total. It’s set between Half Life and Half Life 2 but offers a 3-page prologue as a catch up making it accessible for everyone. After all, Half-Life 2 was originally released twelve years ago.
Issue #1 Following Portents was originally released online in 2015 but after a successful Greenlight campaign you can now grab it on Steam and for free. Half Life: A Place in the West is created by Michael Pelletier and Ross Joseph Gardner. It may not be Half-Life 3, but the comic certainly provides those nostalgic Half Life chills.
