Neon washed colours. Dystopian societies. Dogs hanging out at bars. It may sound like just your normal, everyday bar scenario in a futuristic world, but VA-11 Hall-A: Cyberpunk Bartender Action is anything but normal.
Set in a world where humanity has been infected with nanomachines designed to oppress the people, you work as a local bartender at VA-11 Hall-A (aka. Valhalla), the perfect place to overhear some interesting and perhaps amusing stories. You won’t be able to interact with these patrons in traditional means, however, as the key to the game is preparing the right kind of drink to carry the story along.
Inspired in part by the older Japanese games designed for the PC-98 series of computers (16 and 32-bit systems by NEC dating back to 1982), VA-11 Hall-A: Cyberpunk Bartender Action plays with the idea of a point and click adventure in an inspiring way. The story of Glitch City will play out before you dependent on your bartending skills, as the people share their personal lives that might surprise you, in a very similar way to the game’s presentation.
VA-11 Hall-A: Cyberpunk Bartender Action released back in June, but it’s worth exploring if you haven’t already. You can find it on special for the next few days on Steam, thanks to Venezuelan studio Sukeban Games and publisher Ysbryd Games.
