After years in the abstract wilderness of the internet, the humble Gif (Jif, Gif, let’s all the whole thing off) has had a new lease of life thanks to Facebook and Twitter. Now, thanks to the tip from Kotaku, the PS4 can be added to that list.
ShareFactory, a free download for your PS4, was created to allow you to share both screenshots and videos directly from your console. A new update that dropped just recently now allows you to create animated GIFs from your captured videos, edited or un-edited. Just pick a starting point and the software will create a 9 second GIF (you can make it shorter if needs be), then as long as you’re logged in, you can directly share it to Twitter.
If Twitter isn’t your thing, you can forgo that option and save it to your console, then transfer it via USB to your PC for use later. Perfect timing for any PS4 Pro owners who want to show off their fancy 4K videos … or anyone who’s still playing No Man’s Sky.
