Avengers and X-Men, Batman and Superman, Oreo and Cadbury … these are just some of the many cool team-ups of late, and now we can add another to the list. Defender and Robotron creator Eugene Jarvis has brought his immense expertise in the classic arcade shooter genre to the team at Housemarque, themselves no strangers to the genre with Super Stardust and PS4 launch title Resogun, with the newly announced Nex Machina.
Taking plenty of inspiration from Jarvis’ previous creations, Nex Machina aims to bring back a ‘true arcade experience’, complete with plenty of colour and explosions. In a world where machines have had enough of completing boring chores for mankind, you stand the only chance for humanities survival against a rising army bent on taking us out for good. A familiar story, for sure, but the action will most definitely not be so simple.
We’ve been thinking long and hard about how to bring back a “true arcade experience” in a world where arcade halls are almost extinct. Nex Machina is our shot at cracking that problem, and over the next few months we’ll have more information on what you can expect on day one. For now, rest assured that the game will provide the classic Housemarque arcade experience and a kickass competitive framework, which we will expand over time to make it the obvious choice for players looking for a challenge.

There’s no release date set just yet, but you can expect it hopefully some time next year on PS4. Given the high quality team behind it, I’d expecting nothing less than a top class experience, and that’s coming from a big Super Stardust fan, so I don’t expect anything less than that.
