Strange landscapes. Hidden mysteries. Sand … lots of sand. Like Journey but with a darker tale to tell, Vane looks like a game worth keeping an eye on as developers Friend & Foe put the finishing touches to their debut title for PS4.
A darker Journey actually fits the description, if the early footage and artwork are anything to go by, though there’s certainly a lot more going on in than just sand dunes and expansive landscapes. The trailer, shown during the PlayStation Experience over the weekend, shows the passing of time in this unusual world while a little girl travels through dark caves and strange puzzles. Crazy dust storms and mysterious characters await our little hero too, with a visual appeal that in many ways feels like the stop-motion animation quality of Kubo and the Two Strings.
Hopefully we will see more of Vane in 2017, it’s the kind of game I was hoping from this year’s release in Recore, but that game didn’t quite explore its environment as much as I was hoping. The trailer impressed me arguably more than any other show over the weekend, so it’s jumped straight to my must watch list. You can find out more about it by following Friend & Foe via their website.
