In a recent blog post, Playtonic Games confirmed their platformer-darling Yooka-Laylee will finally hit PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, Mac and Linux April 11th 2017.
Everyone who pre-orders on PC, Xbox One or PS4 will receive an instant unlock of the Yooka-Laylee Toybox which offers a “taste of the platforming mechanics set to appear in the full game in a self-contained, spoiler free sandbox.” Steam and GOG will also have Digital Deluxe versions of the game that includes a digital soundtrack and manual / art book.
Playtonic also apologised and stated that through unforeseen technical issues, the Nintendo WiiU port has been cancelled, although they are working closely with Nintendo to bring Yooka-Laylee to the Nintendo Switch. Any Kickstarter backers affected by the cancellation can change their pledge to any other console free of charge.
The blog post finished with the announcement of a new trailer. In this footage, we can see “the buddy-duo navigating the casino floor, discotheques and oversized roulette tables in search of delicious golden bounty.”
