It’s a new year, and that means two very important things; we’re all trying to come up with resolutions that we’ll probably break within the first month, and there’s also a whole host of events readying up for another go-around. That includes arguably the fastest growing charity event in gaming, one that’s all about going fast.
Awesome Games Done Quick is a week long event that brings together players from around the world in celebration of completing almost every video game you can think of as fast as possible, all in the name of raising much needed funds for charity. There’s two events this year, with Awesome Games Done Quick classified as the winter event (given it’s a US organisation, it makes perfect sense).
This year the team aim to raise what they can for The Prevent Cancer Foundation, something I’m all for preventing. You can donate at any time during the week via the official website, where you can also donate to a number of challenges running across the event.
As for the games themselves, there’s already been some top class highlights, including a versus speed run on indie darling Shovel Knight (which you can watch below) and a run through Double Fine’s own Psychonauts. There’s a ton of other games on the schedule, so be sure to keep an eye on the Twitch channel while we post up any particular highlights or amazing things of note from the entire week.
