We’re celebrating International Women’s Day today, so I thought I’d take the time to point out some quality talent out there in the world of video games and entertainment from across Australia that have a big year ahead of them. We should be extremely proud to have such amazing women making some big strides, whether it’s Twitch streaming, presenting or video game development and beyond.
From well known Aussie streamer to co-host of the newest video game show, Under Control, Jessie James (aka Geek & Gamer Girl) is definitely a face you’ll see more of over the next year and beyond. You can follow her on Twitch or check out the show via Snackable.TV.
Founder of the Girl Geek Academy (an initiative out to provide more opportunities for women in games and beyond) and an important figure behind the scenes of Aussie indie hit Armello, Lisy was one of only three Australians to make the Forbes 30 under 30 list this year! A massive achievement, no doubt.
The former Good Game host will soon be taking her talent to a whole new show on a whole new channel. It’s a bold move, one that took many people by surprise, but something tells me it will pay off in the long run. We will see soon enough, but in the meantime we wish her and the new team all the best.
Having moved from Germany to Australia, Jennifer has made a massive impact on the local scene thanks to her work on Objects in Space, having been named as one of the 100 most influential women in game development and a 30 under 30 recipient by Australian MCV Pacific. Jennifer’s still hard at work on the steampunk influences space trader by Flat Earth Games.
SBS Pop Asia’s newest gaming podcast, Split Screen, has just kicked off with co-host Gabriella Tacchi. The YouTube talent has been on the scene for a good while now, but it’s a huge positive to see SBS diving into the game scene and taking Gabriella’s talents along for the ride.
