It’s been going around on Twitter and Facebook a lot lately, even popping up on Kotaku, so I thought I’d take a stab at this little slice of history myself. Looking back, I’ve been on this planet for going on 35 years, and that’s a massive amount of content to sift through. But the more I thought about it, the easier the list came together … and the fond memories came flooding back to. The opening moments of Ocarina of Time, camped around a tiny TV playing Super Mario Kart with my family on Christmas Day, lining up with my Dad to buy a PS2 on launch day (and then trading it in a few years later for an Xbox) … these moments shaped me in ways I can’t begin to explain. Some I’ve also chosen for reasons beyond why I may have enjoyed them, perhaps the fact that it was the only game I could afford to play that year or the only one that resonated with me the most. Either way, each one has played its role.

So, without further ado, here’s 35 games across 35 years of my strange, funny and constantly evolving life.
